Throughout human history we have been fascinated by two perennial questions: Where did we come from? What is the purpose of our lives? The way that we respond to these questions forms the basis of how we see ourselves in the world, and what type of society we create. Charles Darwin was a groundbreaking scientist who helped to expand our understanding of evolution. His idea that species develop over time through some form of natural selection was a significant step in solving the mystery of how we came to be - but it was not the end of the search. His theory broke the logjam of out-dated religious beliefs about creationism, but it was by no means a final conclusion. Natural selection through random accidental mutations was a starting point, and it should have developed further as later evidence disproved some of its details. Yet here we are over 160 years later, and despite many obvious flaws, it is still accepted by mainstream science and taught in our schools. Even more important, this flawed theory has had a negative influence on the values and attitudes of our society. It’s time for a new look at evolution that provides better answers to the perennial questions of where we came from and why we are here.

The Darwinian worldview says that human beings have evolved through a process of evolution that was completely random and accidental. If a lucky creature experienced an accidental genetic mutation that was a helpful trait for survival, they could pass on this new characteristic to their offspring. Eventually – after millions of generations – the new trait would become part of all humanity. We are taught to believe that this process of accidental causation has been responsible for every evolutionary change. But Darwinism’s insistence that all changes are random and accidental, does not stand up to the evidence of modern science.

Quantum Evolution is an alternative view that sees evolution as an active adaptive process, rather than a series of biological accidents. Scientific research has shown us that species evolve as a reaction to changes in their environment. When something threatens their existence it triggers the entire species to search for new genetic combinations to overcome the threat. As beneficial variations are intentionally found, they are passed on to the next generations. We are all familiar with how quickly viruses and bacteria can adapt to changes in their environment, like the “super bug” bacteria which can rapidly alter their DNA to thwart every new antibiotic. During Covid we were told that the virus made a “new variant” every few months. These bacteria and viruses do not have to wait millions of years to accidentally develop counter-measures to the latest drug - they adapt rapidly. There seems to be a disconnect between what science says about cellular adaptation and their irrational devotion to Darwinism. Why is this important?

Darwin’s theory spawned the concept known as “survival of the fittest”, because those without the new mutations were doomed to die off. Competition to stay alive was seen as the natural behaviour of all species including humans. So the Darwinian answers to the perennial questions are clear: Who are we? We are the accidental result of trillions of random mutations. What is the purpose of our lives? Survival! This legacy of Charles Darwin has strongly influenced every aspect of our existence, and is greatly responsible for the critical situations that we face today. It has created a completely unbalanced materialistic society that is based on fear, greed and scarcity. Economically we fight against each other rather than cooperate. Politically we strive for power instead of working for the common good. Ecologically we waste our resources and destroy our beautiful planet. Sociologically we feel more and more alone because we have lost our sense of oneness and unity. If we continue to follow this dead end of Darwinism we will never advance to our full human potential.

This all sounds pretty grim and hopeless, but fortunately the leading edge of modern scientific knowledge is telling us a different story - one which points the way toward a much brighter future. The accepted Darwinian principle says that our deepest motivation is to compete against each other to get what we need. This is the foundation of our current society, but when science has looked more closely it has found that the actual truth is completely the opposite. Over the past fifty years more than 400 peer reviewed scientific studies have asked one simple question: “Does survival-oriented competition help a species to thrive and grow?” The answer in every case was a resounding NO! The results from all of these studies clearly showed that competition for resources always leads to failure. The research on this topic is unanimous in its conclusion that the best way for a species to survive and prosper is through mutual aid and cooperation - not competition. It would seem that our reliance on Darwinism has given us a sense of identity that takes us away from our true selves.

Let’s return to the perennial questions: Where did we come from? What is our purpose? Quantum Evolution supports an evolutionary impulse that gives us very different answers than the ones that Darwin dreamed up 160 years ago. We are reminded that our basic instinct is to face challenges by working together, and that whatever effects one person effects all of us. This understanding helps us to realize that our existence cannot possibly be random or accidental. On the contrary, it is on purpose with a purpose. That purpose is to continue to evolve our consciousness so that humanity can realize its full potential. This evolution will occur, as does all evolution, through the process of intentional adaptation. As more and more of us choose to raise our individual awareness, we will naturally evolve toward ‘the more beautiful world that our hearts know is possible’.
