The well ‘Pou d'en Gatzara’

In Santa Gertrudis, everything revolves around the church and the village square with its famous bars and terraces, handicraft stores, shops and boutiques. However, just over one kilometre from the centre of the village, on the road to Sant Mateu, there is an ancient well called ‘Pou d’en Gatzara’. It is estimated that its origins date back to the 17th century when there was a family with the same name. It is located in the geographical centre of the island and hiking trail No. 8 passes through it. In addition, on the first Saturday of October, the traditional ‘ballada de pou’ is held at the well, where typical gastronomic products can be enjoyed with a good peasant wine whilst a sample of the traditional Ibicenco dance is performed.
