Starlink WiFi on Airlines

15 Aug 2025 17 Share
Whether you're streaming your favourite show, catching up on emails, or attending a live meeting from a middle seat, the future of in-flight connectivity is finally catching up to passenger expectations. Using Wi-Fi on a flight can often be expensive, slow and frustrating, but that is starting to change thanks to Elon Musk’s satellite internet system known as Starlink. This system uses over 8,000 low orbit satellites to deliver high speed internet on the entire planet - including over oceans and remote areas where traditional in-flight Wi-Fi has problems. With Starlink the connections are strong and smooth enough for video calls and other high speed usages. Airlines know that many travellers choose their flights based on comfort, entertainment and Wi-Fi quality. Frequent flyers, remote workers and digital nomads are the ones who appreciate strong in-flight Wi-Fi even more. For years they have complained about buffering, dropouts and overpriced hour-by-hour cost. That is why many airlines have begun the switch to Starlink. It gives them a competitive advantage over airlines that still use the old systems, and customers are beginning to ask whether Starlink is available before they book.
