The larger discounts were announced by the Prime Minister’s office after months of negotiations with the Balearic government. It had been felt that the central government - controlled by the Popular Party (PP) - did not want to grant this advantage to the Balearic President Francina Armengol who is of the rival Socialist Party (PSOE). But finally they were able to put politics aside and come to an agreement that is of great benefit to those of us who live here.
