The Eastern Gulf of Finland is a popular vacation area that includes the island of Ulko-Tammio. Starting last summer some behaviours were missing from that island: selfies, people walking with their heads down, meals with no one talking to each other, and all the other things that characterize people who are overly attached to their phones. The local association had advised tourists that, “We encourage visitors to put their phones away voluntarily and to focus their senses on nature. Our island is filled with natural splendour - why not be fully present?” So far it seems to be working.
