New Caritas Store in Ibiza

13 Dec 2023 1049 Share
The charity Caritas has opened a new store in Ibiza Town selling second-hand clothing. Their previous point of sale for recycled clothing was closed during the covid restrictions, so they are very excited to open this newly renovated store. Caritas Ibiza collects about 350,000 kilos of used clothing each year from their containers located throughout the island. Some of the items are brand new with the price tags still attached. However, only about 10% of the used clothes are deemed worthy of being sold at the store. These are sent to the main recycling centre in Barcelona where they are fully reconditioned and made ready for sale.
One of the main purposes of the store is to help people in Ibiza who are financially vulnerable. However, it is open to all island residents who are interested to buy high quality second-hand clothes at discounted prices. In addition, a special section of the store will feature 'vintage clothing’ with unique pieces that echo memories of bygone eras. Director Gustavo Gómez points out the dual advantages of shopping at this new store: "In addition to contributing to the charity, you will save a lot of money."
