Italian Town Seeks New Residents

15 Aug 2024 25 Share
The Italian town of Santa Fiora in Tuscany will pay 50% of the rental costs for remote workers looking to change their lives by moving to this charming historic location. The lure of medieval walls, renaissance piazzas, and baroque palaces, set amid vineyards, rivers, local markets, and chestnut forests could be appealing to people stuck in an impersonal city. Santa Flora is looking to revitalize the town with an influx of new people. All you have to do is prove that you are a full-time remote worker, and that you will stay for more than two months. Recently installed high speed fibre-optic internet makes it efficient for them to work in their homes. Housing is already affordable, and with the 50% reduction, a remote worker could trade their over-priced city apartment for a lovely place in this dream-inspired village for between €150 to €250 per month. Mayor Federico Balocchi says that the town is also offering a €30,000 grant for those looking to open a Bed & Breakfast or hostel. “The goal is to incentivize people to move in and virtually work from here. We want Santa Fiora to become their flexible office.”
