Gardening For Good Health

15 Feb 2024 1025 Share
A new study shows that frequent gardening is associated with improved wellbeing and lower stress. Britain’s Royal Horticultural Society surveyed more than 6,000 people, and the results clearly show that those who garden regularly are healthier and have lower stress levels. With regard to stress, the study concluded that: “When gardening, our brains are pleasantly distracted by the nature around us. This shifts our focus away from our stresses, and reduces negative feelings.” They also found that frequent gardening is a significant physical activity that is good for overall health. “Gardening is like effortless exercise that doesn’t feel strenuous, yet it can expend as much energy as cycling or jogging.” Most people say that they garden for pleasure, which makes it an excellent way to stay healthy and happy.
