Desalinated Water for Santa Eulalia

15 Aug 2025 17 Share
Santa Eulalia and the Abaqua company are encouraging more use of the municipality's desalinated water. Their dispenser is fed directly from the desalination tank, and is equipped with a double loading point for water trucks. However its usage has been disappointing this year, according to Carmen Ferrer, the manager of Abaqua. “The use of desalinated water is vital to give our aquifers a break and allow them to regenerate.” Farmers and water suppliers are being encouraged to make more use of the available desalinated water so that ground water is saved. Another project that uses desalinated water mixes the clean water into reservoirs of treated water to reduce the salinity and make it better for agricultural use. This also takes pressure off of the natural aquifers.
