One of the brightest rising stars on the Spanish jazz scene is a dynamic young man who was born and raised right here in Ibiza. Pere Navarro is a multi-talented musician on the trumpet and piano, who composes and produces all of his own original music. When you meet him it is easy to see why he has come so far at a young age. Pere’s effervescent personality brings a special energy to his performances, and combining this with great musical talent is a sure-fire recipe for success. So it is no wonder that Pere has rapidly become recognized for his innovative style in both composing and performing. His songs are a unique blend of numerous musical influences that range from classic American jazz to modern vibes, and it’s all flavoured with a touch of his Ibiza heritage.

Pere’s love affair with the trumpet began when he was only eight years old, and it was clear from the start that he was a budding prodigy. To develop this natural talent he attended the Ibiza conservatory, where he was mentored and trained to find his true path in the world of music. At about 14 he “discovered” his affinity for jazz, and by 15 he was already playing in the Ibiza Jazz Big Band. By the time he was 16 Pere had started writing his own music, and since then he has composed over 50 original songs. During these years he also honed his skill on the piano to become a double virtuoso on both the trumpet and keyboard. When he was 18, he moved to Barcelona to study jazz at the Taller de Músics University. 

Since then Pere’s career has been steadily growing and evolving. His live performances feature original songs that are a unique mixture of Jazz, Funk, and Soul. Pere’s mastery on the trumpet and keyboard set the tone for his talented band. On some numbers he plays the trumpet and keyboard at the same time - playing the trumpet with his right hand, while his left plays the keyboard. Truly amazing! He has performed at numerous esteemed venues across Spain including Jamboree Jazz, Recoletos Jazz, and internationally at Parker & Lenox in Mexico City, Sunset-Sunside in Paris, and Pizza Express Soho in London. Pere has also been invited to perform at prestigious jazz festivals: Krakow International Jazz Festival, Lugo International Jazz Festival (2017 & 2019), Menorca Jazz Festival, and of course the local festivals Eivissa Jazz and Jazz Point Ibiza. 

In 2016, the Pere Navarro Quintet released their first album Perenne, with eleven contemporary jazz tracks written by Pere. It was very well received. Two years later came his second album: Pere Navarro Quintet Live in Madrid. This was very courageous, as explained by the reviewer. “Pere has taken the hard way by recording a live album. That is usually done after you have released a few more records. Youth is daring and blessed be it! This is a wonderful album.” These first two albums were released under the prestigious Fresh Sound Records label, and they established Pere as a key figure in contemporary jazz. His third album QUINTESSENTIAL was released this year, and it has been nominated for Best Album of the Year. The reviews affirm that this new work is a vivid reflection of how Pere’s artistic depth has grown and evolved. “His music – fresh, emotional, and accessible – resonates effortlessly with audiences, delivering a truly one-of-a-kind experience in every performance.”

In 2023 Pere founded his own label Rhythm&Bliss, which gives him a platform to explore and combine various styles of music in different settings. He has also launched himself into the world of electronic music as a DJ/producer, and has played at many famous venues, both here on Ibiza and around the world. The versatility of his musical talent allows him to create DJ sets that adapt to any atmosphere - from laid-back daytime grooves to high-energy dance music. Pere will undoubtedly be doing some of this during the busy summer season, but his main concentration will always be as a musician. When the summer is over, he and his band are embarking on a European tour. It will be a great opportunity for audiences throughout the continent to discover this generational talent whose distinctive musical signature transcends and enlightens all genres.
