If you love music and being around dedicated musicians, then there is a special place for you right in the heart of Ibiza Town. Jazz-Tà Bé has the same feeling as the clubs I used to go to when I lived in New York. An intimate atmosphere where you come to enjoy the music with people who love it as much as you do. This location was originally the site of a music bar called Sa Questio. Like many small businesses, they were forced to close due to the severe covid restrictions. A group of local businessmen who are music lovers wanted to keep the local music scene alive, so they bought the place. Once they got inside they realized that major renovations were needed. Not only to bring all of the facilities up to modern standards, but to change the entire layout so that it reflected their vision of a club with excellent acoustics and a comfortable setting for the customers. The result has been a perfect blend of style and efficiency that has exactly the feeling they were looking for.

The bar and kitchen areas also needed to be upgraded and expanded. Now guests can choose from a wide selection of excellent food and drinks. The wine list is particularly special for a bar of this size, as one of the partners is a wine connoisseur. You can order these fine wines by the glass, and there are even Wine Tasting Nights. For those who are hungry there is delicious “finger food” that is artisan made with local products. Montaditos are one of the specialties. These are small sandwich rolls with a variety of ingredients. 

Jazz-Tà Bé is open every night except Mondays, and there is a weekly schedule that is flexible enough to encompass all tastes in music: Jazz, Pop, Rock, Blues, Latin, World Music. etc.. Tuesday is usually a Surprise Jam, and Wednesday can be anything from Reggae to Afro to Cuban to the classical Ibiza String Ensemble. Thursday is Jazz night, while on Fridays the beat heats up with Rock and Hip Hop. Saturdays are a fun Jam with Karaoke, and Sundays feature the Blues. It’s a good idea to check the schedule each week as new artists and special guests are often appearing.

The four partners who have created Jazz-Tà Bé are Lourdes, Victor, Jorge and Carlos, and each of them takes an active role in its management. They are successful local business people who have a passion for keeping the Ibiza music scene vibrant. Victor Torres is the one whom I spoke with, and he is a man of varied interests that include being a yoga teacher, and playing the saxophone. The work that Victor and his partners have put into resurrecting Jazz-Tà Bé is a reflection of their deep connection to Ibiza’s traditions. Beyond the big clubs and the glitzy summer madness, there is a colourful community of local musicians and the people who appreciate them. Keeping this flame alive is reflected in the name “Jazz-Tà Bé”, which is a clever play on words. It sounds like the Catalan expression “ja està bé” which means “It’s OK now”. But you can rest assured that Ibiza’s newest music club is much more than just “OK”. It’s a labour of love that welcomes everyone to come together for the enjoyment of sweet sounds, good times and the magic of music.
